I did this and for some reason, now I cannot connect to any games online. I get this message. Does anyone know what it means?

Yes, it's a pure server, so it's doing a content check on you. You modified your config files, therefore, your content check fails.. ;)

Well, you could just go back and undo the changes you made.

D'oh!

I suppose, you could install the game in two different directories?

I haven't played multi yet, so this is a learning exp. for me hehe since I did all those tweaks too.

Actually, you should be able to make a new pak file and drop the config files you want to change in them. If it handles all files the same way, anything in a newer (higher then the 4th original) pak file, or .pk4 should over ride the originals. So you should be able to extract the config file, and make your changes, then drop it into a new pak file (pak005.pk4) for example. Then anytime you want to play online just move the new pk4 file outa your game dir. In theory that should work...

Tommy that sucks dude. I was thinking of trying this but I am not that techi and I figure I would screw something up. The game seems to run fine anyway so why mess with it.

Tommy is not happy...I did not have bad performance in the first place, so I was stupid for trying this, but it is still a pain in the arse!

sorry tommy :(

a lot of people had success with this tweak, so I thought I'd post it to improve performance.

i should have been more clear about making a backup copy of the file, or something...
